Arrow’s Michael Jai White Wants To Play John Stewart Green Lantern In DCEU

It looks like Arrow actor Michael Jai White could be interested in playing fan favorite Green Lantern John Stewart in the DCEU. It is unclear when we may see a Green Lantern in any DCEU film, but HBO Max is prepping a Green Lantern series where John Stewart could be a welcome addition. Especially considering that the show will feature two Green Lanterns. In a video posted by Geek House Show on Instagram, White discussed which DC or Marvel character he’d most like to play, replying, “That answer would have to be, from the DC Universe, a character called John Stewart because that’s what everybody wants me to play. So, can’t let down the fans.”

Michael Jai White is no stranger to the DC universe. He played Bronze Tiger in season two and seven of Arrow. Originally a villain on the show, Turner’s time with the Suicide Squad changed him, though he also died as a result. Luckily, Turner’s death was undone by Barry Allen’s Flashpoint actions. This led to Oliver Queen encountering him during his time in jail, with Turner ultimately helping Oliver and becoming uneasy friends with him. Arrow had hints of Green Lantern as well. After several subtle references over the years, Arrow finally paid off on the idea in its series finale earlier this year, offering a fun Green Lantern tease in the show’s final moments.

This may not have been a direct appeal to play the character, but it will give his fans a reason to get a buzz going to get the powers that be to consider him for the role. Michael Jai White doesn’t want to let fans down, so it’s up to the fans not to let him down.  Stay tuned to Dcomicsnews.com for more news as it develops. And yes, we all want to see Green Lantern in the DCEU.
