It’s a sad day for a lot of DC fans. As the world continues to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic, Warner Bros. has decided to postpone one of the most anticipated DC films of the year: Wonder Woman 1984. The film will now hit theaters on August 14th instead of June 5th.

Wonder Woman 1984 is the sequel to Wonder Woman (2017) and is expected to be one of the highest-grossing films of the year. The first film brought in $821 million globally and was a massive success for DC’s fist female standalone film. In the DCEU, it stands as one of the best DC films of all time. The film is yet again directed by Patty Jenkins and stars Gal Gadot as Diana Prince. In the sequel, we find the Amazon Princess during the Reagan era battling Cheetah (Kristen Wiig) and Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal) all while…hold on…get ready…spoiler alert…reuniting with her lost love Steve Trevor (Chris Pine)! Is it really him, or something else? We don’t know yet since now we all have to wait until August to find out the details.

AMC Theaters has estimated that theaters around the country will continue to remain closed for 6 to 12 weeks. Other theaters have not come up with a timeframe on when they will reopen. All we know is Hollywood still expects theaters to be dark come June.

The growing list also includes an indefinite postponement of Lin Manuel Miranda’s In the Heights which is also highly anticipated for many musical lovers, Malignant directed by Aquaman‘s James Wan, Scoob, and Disney’s Mulan and Black Widow.

For now, all we can do is wait.
