Summary
When the Legends discover a new Encore, Sara, Rory and Ava end up crashing a high school reunion to attempt to stop a serial killer from finishing unfinished business. The Legends devise a plan to send Nate, Ray, Nora, Behrad and their hostage Zari, back in time to try and intervene in order to try to save everyone including them. Meanwhile, Constantine is annoyed that Charlie has been squatting in his old home, but it might be the blessing in disguise they were not looking for.
Positives
The villain in this episode is called Freddy Myers. Come on. Thank you Legends of Tomorrow for being what you are. Strange and quirky and absurd. This issue is Ray and Nora heavy which is also good. We need to soak them up before they leave. Most married couples don’t have great on-screen chemistry, but that is not the case with Routh and Ford. It could just be that Brandon Routh is just that good. As fun as this show is, I worry what it will become without him and all the positives he brings.
Matt Ryan’s turn as Constantine continues to be cranked up to eleven. He just knows who that character is. Yes, I know that the DC version of him is a bit watered down, but, isn’t that always the case? I just am so glad that he and the Legends of Tomorrow team made the right call to keep him.
Maisie Richardson-Sellers is back! I don’t get tired to reminding everyone that she is a SUPER STAR. More her. Thank you. Also, Ava has a podcast about serial killers. Holy crap. That is so funny. She is amazing. I can not gush enough here about Jes Macallan’s performance.
Negatives
The problem with any group show is that not all members of the team get to shine each week. However, in this particular episode of Legends, that is not the case. Sure, John, Charlie and Gary have the C story, but it is just enough and it carries us forward. So, so good. So,nothing to report here.
Verdict
This is the best episode of the season. I am sad thinking about Ray and Nora’s departure, but for now, I am enjoying the ride. Gideon, set a course for awesome.
