Summary
Postal: Deliverance #4 starts with Pascal retelling the brutal murder of his mother. It is pretty graphic. There are not a lot of words. Be prepared. Laura, being about as subtle as a sledge hammer, decides to take revenge into her own hands. She finds the perpetrators and does what she does best. She returns to find Pascal with…Well, I can’t spoil that.
Meanwhile, back in Eden, there is a whole other kind of justice happening. Again, I could explain it all, but I won’t. You really, REALLY need to read this.
Positives
Wow. Bryan Hill is one hell of a writer. He knows how to build tension. He knows how to kick people squarely in the teeth and he knows how to make us ask for more. There is no reason for us to care about any of these people. They are all terrible. I mean Pascal is not a monster…yet, but he clearly is on the train to hell. Still, I want everyone to be OK. If Mark would allow me to give him a hug, I would give him one. I would want to buy Laura a drink and ask her to give me sage advice.
Raff Ienco has really dragged the readers into this world and dropped us into the deep end with the hopes we know how to swim. He forces us to see beauty in pain. He forces us to stare into the face of violence and no shirk from it because we simply can’t look away. These people just jump off the page and hang out with us. Just look at the top panel in the image below. The way his ashes hang. The look on his face. It is just so powerful and real.
Negatives
This is, hands down, the best issue so far. I have nothing to report here EXCEPT that this book is not for ANYONE who is gun shy. RATED M. HARD M.
Verdict
The last page of Postal: Deliverance #4 is maybe the best page of the series so far. I mean, I totally saw it coming, but damn. What a book. I was not a Postal reader before, but I have started going back into the archives. That is totally worth my time.
