Flash Gets New Director…Again, Ezra Miller’s Future In Question.

DC Comic’s Flash solo film has had one of the most tumultuous productions in recent memory. News is now breaking that Ezra Miller is still attached to the project but a new script is being penned by Christina Hodson of  ‘Bumblebee’ and ‘Birds of Prey” fame. Andy Muschietti is now in talks to direct the project reviving it once more to hit the big screen.  His partner and sister, Barbara Muschietti, will produce, joining Michael Disco on the project.

Insiders have stressed all deals are still in a preliminary phase and pen has not met paper. The project has been in production limbo since the downfall of the DCEU and poor returns on both Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, leading the studio to question the direction and tone of the upcoming films on the slate.

Ezra Miller has been vocal about wanting to stay attached to the project. Miller submitted his script in March which was co written by Grant Morrison of comics fame. The script was rejected in May and WB decided to go in another direction. Miller has favored a darker tone as seen in Batman v Superman. WB is now weary of past projects, shifting its town for the future.

Andy Muschietti hails from the horror world and made his feature debut with the 2013 horror flick Mama. This would make him the third director from the horror world to tackle the DCEU. James Wan, a horror legend with such titles as SAW, The Conjuring, and more under his belt, directed last year’s Aquaman to massive acclaim both from critics and box office, and David F. Sandberg, who started his directorial career with the 2016 film Lights Out, followed by Annabelle: Creation in 2017, recently directed the critical hit, Shazam!.
