WarnerMedia Streaming Service Picks High Price Point

The WarnerMedia streaming service is set to cost “between $16 and $17 a month” according to the Wall Street Journal.  The package will combine Warner Bros. movies and TV shows with HBO and Cinemax content.  HBO Go already costs around $15 per month, so adding a bit of extra content makes up for the additional dollar or two.  We don’t know if the DC Universe service will be included somehow, but we do know that the service hopes to launch by March 2020 with a beta going live in late 2019.  They also hope to include some original programming.

AT&T is very interested in leveraging its properties from the recent acquisition of Time Warner. This could include movies like Aquaman, A Star is Born, and Casablanca, TV Shows like Friends, Seinfeldand The Big Bang Theory, as well as all of the above.

WarnerMedia’s service is likely to be the highest price in a field of heavy competition.  There’s Hulu at $11.99/month, Netflix at $12.99/month, the Disney+ service set at $6.99/month, Amazon Prime Video at around $10/month, and Apple TV which does not yet have a price point.  This service was originally going to have multiple tiers of pricing options, but no other options have been disclosed.  There have, however, been rumors about a price option with ads.  Does WarnerMedia have enough to keep up?  Will you be buying into the service? Let us know in the comments!
