Will Smith may be riding a magic carpet currently at the box office, but his days with DC may be over. However, have no fear because here comes Idris Elba to the rescue…as Bronze Tiger?
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the sequel to the 2016 surprise hit Suicide Squad will be changing its roster completely from the ground up. Yes, James Gunn may be eyeing another to fill the spot of Floyd Lawton, aka Deadshot (Smith). Forbes magazine has given near-confirmation that actor Idris Elba will portray Ben Turner, aka Bronze Tiger.
The 46-year-old Elba is best known for both television and movie roles. While he has played a character in the DC film The Losers, he is best known as Heimdall in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the UK, he’s best known on the BBC series Luther.
Ben Turner has been known as both an antihero and a villain in the comics. A skilled martial artist in several disciplines, Bronze Tiger has come into conflict with Batman, Lady Shiva, and Richard Dragon. He was most recently portrayed on TV by Michael Jai White for the second and seventh seasons of Arrow.
The addition of Idris Elba could prove to be the new blood the franchise needs.
