Summary
After Batgirl’s discovery of the Terrible Trio’s bid to control the Gotham underworld, she’s immediately off to investigate—starting with the group’s muscle…the Shark! Can Babs use her wits to survive a showdown with this bro turned bruiser? Or is he just a warm-up for the battle to come against this band of wild criminals?
Positives
Francis Manapul’s cover is gorgeous. I love the stylistic colors. It looks so cool. And I think it’s the best the newer Batgirl costume has looked.
The interior art is solid. It’s very expressive; the characters have a lot of personality just from how they’re drawn.
I love that the villains essentially put Batgirl in a magic show with her having to escape a tank filling with water. It’s a lot of fun and helps the book establish it’s kind of weird tone.
Additionally, I still enjoy the Terrible Trio. They’re so weird that it’s hard not to love them. I enjoy their dynamics with each other as well as how they interact with Batgirl.
I really enjoyed seeing how the people in Babs’ life have to with the deal with the problems Batgirl creates. Babs is naturally more engaged with what she’s doing as Batgirl. Things in her life fall by the wayside. I liked seeing the people trying to catch these elements of Babs’ life in free fall while Batgirl fights a dude in a shark mask.
Negatives
There are no negatives worth mentioning in this issue.
Verdict
This is a great issue. I like the Terrible Trio as villains a lot. The story so far has a weird but fun tone that I’m completely into. I love the consequences to Babs’ life and how they are coming into play. The art is solid as well. I really enjoyed this issue.
