AOC Comic Cover Gets Cease And Desist From DC

AOC Wonder Woman

What does Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) have to do with DC Comics? She’s the star of the series Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez & The Freedom Force: New Party, Who Dis? from publisher Devil’s Due and, following the current industry trend, the publisher has put out a number of limited retailer variant covers.

One of those covers shows AOC in a costume that DC seems to feel resembles a certain Amazon a little too closely: artist Carla Cohen’s NY Collector Cave retailer exclusive.

AOC Wonder Woman

Following the image reveal, DC sent Devil’s Due a cease-and-desist notice demanding that the AOC covers not be distributed. This would already have been a tough item to track down in regular circumstances — with a print run of only 250 — but now it’s surely impossible, right?

Not exactly. The comics had already been printed, and some have escaped out in the world. As of this writing, you can get a copy on ebay — though for significantly higher than the cover price.

Here’s the official description of the book:
