HBO’s upcoming series isn’t the only Watchmen news these days: the cover art to issue #1 sold for $228,000 at a Heritage auction last week. The unidentified seller, who bought the piece through Heritage back in 2013 for $155,350, saw a nice return on his/her investment.
Before the start of the live auction, the piece saw a reached $180,000 on internet pre-bids. Three minutes of live bidding brought final sale price. The original color guide for the cover came included this time, with both pieces matted and framed. Back in 2013, the color guide on its own sold for $7,767.
