Positives
For the most part, I like the cover. The concept and style are cool. There’s an old school vibe to it that I like.
The backgrounds are great. I love the creativity that went into Vertigo’s effect on the city. The level of chaos is a lot of fun.
I like that Ollie is still dealing with Roy’s death and how that ties into the conflict with Vertigo. The story resolves in a surprising but touching way. I liked that a lot.
Negatives
I’m not in love with the character models on neither the cover nor the interior art. They aren’t as detailed as I tend to like. A lot of the faces look strange to me; it’s something that takes me out.
Indigo Riot still doesn’t have a place in the narrative. This character adds literally nothing and yet takes up a decent amount of space towards the beginning. It’s weird.
Verdict
This is an okay issue. I like the central conflict and how it resolves. Ollie had a lot of baggage about Roy before he died so Oliver is dealing with a lot and I think it’s interesting. The art is a mixed bag. I do like the backgrounds and there is some well constructed action. But the characters look a little off to me and I found that distracting.
