Zack Snyder and the “what could have been” stores that surround Justice League just keep coming. Following completion on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Snyder jumped right in to production of Justice League as Warner Bros demanded that Snyder jump right into Justice League so the studio could catch up to the Disney owned and distributed MCU. As Warner Bros and DC tried to catch up, the studio opted out of building their heroes with origin films and instead introduced Aquaman, Cyborg and Flash in the multi-hero team up known as Justice League.
The final cut of Justice League was not well received, by anyone, often being described as a “stitched together mess” with some of Snyders original scenes meshed together with Joss Whedon’s reshoots. Justice League ended up being the lowest grossing of all the DCEU films and left the future of the DCEU in serious doubt.
Enter The Aquaman and it’s star, Jason Mamoa
Aquaman no doubt got the rawest deals in Justice League as most of his scenes were but and fans not only had a hard time “swallowing” the “cool” and “hip” Arthur Curry but also had issues with his old and faded armor in the movie, wondering why Aquaman wasn’t in his typical orange and green armor fans are used to from the comics and animated films.
Now more insight has been released showing Zack Snyder’s original vision for Justice League as some concept artwork from Constantine Sekeris shows a more faithful version of Aquaman’s costume that wasn’t used in Joss Whedon’s Justice League.
As seen above, Sekeris’ artwork shows a more faithful version of the characters costume and bares a closer resemblance to the outfit Arthur Curry wears in the final act of Aquaman. Justice League did Arthur Curry no favors both on screen and with the fans, there is no doubt that the multibillion dollar blockbuster from James Wan corrected the character with the fans and helped push the future of the DCEU forward.
Only time will tell where The Aquaman will go from here but for now, LONG LIVE THE KING!
