[Editor’s Note: This review may contain spoilers]

Writer: Steve Orlando

Artists: Travel Foreman, Hi-Fi, & Travis Lanham

Summary

After War Cry looses his fight and the humans of Earth must give up their food supply the world is thrown off kilter. The animals control the Earth’s food and thus tensions rise between the two predominant species. As a result of this

This issue opens with that tension coming to a head as those back on Earth challenge each other over their dwindling resource and force it’s two Electric warriors against each other.

Meanwhile, other warriors duke out it for honor, survival, and resources. One such warrior, with psychic powers gets a memory from his slain opponent which makes him question the whole existence of the Great Compromise.

Positives

Orlando has crafted a fantastic espionage/hidden society, in an otherwise straight forward gladiator world. By adding this twist, a fresh new angle is put on a classic story. It will be interesting to see how the Electric Warriors deal with new perspective in the world, given Orlando’s creative muscles.

I also appreciate the nod to science in which Orlando as clearly looked into Octopus biology. It harks back to the classic days of The Flash in which readers can learn through a highly entertaining medium.

Due to the difference in morals and beliefs of the fighters, we also get a large variety of interactions between them. Instead of any typical cast of gladiators where they vary on fighting style, while all wanting freedom or glory, the political nature of the events of the Compromise all of more intelligent characters.

Negatives

There were no negatives about this issue. It was concise with it’s delivery of story as well as moving the characters forward in their development.

Verdict

Electric Warriors #3 was a great issue, raising the stacks for the individual characters as well as showing how twisted the world of The Compromise is. Pick this comic up and enjoy.
