Summary
A powerless Wonder Woman must encourage a young woman to keep fighting as they make they’re way through treacherous terrain.
Positives
A fantastic story of heart and bravery if I ever saw one. At Wonder Woman’s core, she is a compassionate heroine with the heart the size of Themyscira, and that’s exactly what we got in this story. Visaggio didn’t do anything original by telling a story like this, but I did enjoy the way in which she told it. The dialogue was incredibly smart and heartfelt, with the main story and the flashback pages flowing beautifully together.
The flashback with Dr. Alma Clark was great, and was a prime example of Wonder Woman’s grit and resolve. Even standing up against the criminals without any powers was a prime example of her heroism.
The idea of Greek Fire burning inside all of us was a nice touch as well. Once again, not to original, but I appreciated the sentiment and the relevance it had in the story.
The art was really good, with gorgeous colors and lines. In a story that needed to depict emotion, we got that in many of the panels and pages throughout.
Negatives
Wonder Woman is an Amazonian warrior, and daughter of Zeus (depending which adaptation you reference). Her powers are her own, and I’m not sure she has metahuman abilities to lose, but I may be nitpicking.
Verdict
A well crafted, heart felt story with beautiful artwork that is a must read for any Wonder Woman fan.
