Summary

“THE JUST WAR” part two! It’s true, Ares has been reborn on Earth—but has he changed for the better? Of all the role models in the world, he seems to have chosen…Wonder Woman?! Diana and Steve Trevor better watch their backs, because Ares isn’t the only creature of myth to find his way to Man’s World…and he’s not the only resurrected Olympian either!

Positives

The main theme of this arc so far is questioning Diana’s methods. Is Wonder Woman a force for justice or is she too quick to raise her sword. I’ve seen this criticism thrown at the character a few times over the years so I’m interested to see how it plays out in a narrative form.

G. Willow Wilson is playing a lot more with the Greek mythological elements that have been somewhat absent recently. There’s more of a fantastical tone that I’m enjoying a lot.

Negatives

Both the cover and the interior art are terrible. There’s not a lot of detail in the character; everyone looks like a strange blob. Proportions and facial expressions are completely off. I find the art completely unappealing.

Verdict

I do like a lot of what Wilson is doing in this issue. It’s an interesting concept and I like the conflicts it presents. But the art kills it for me. I have such a hard time paying attention to this because of how distracting I find this art to be.
