Marvel Studios is in trouble after the firing of director James Gunn and the setback that has been caused for one of the studios biggest series, Guardians of the Galaxy. While Disney is feeling the effects of delays from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, director James Gunn has come out “on his feet” and landed in the DC Universe as the director of the sequel to Suicide Squad.
Now Gunn’s close friend and collaborator, Michael Rooker, has spoken out about the twist of fate that sent Gunn from the MCU to the DCEU after being fired from the franchise he helped create.
“It’s terrible, isn’t it? Yeah, but oh well, guess what? He’s on a gig already. Suicide Squad, thats right. He’s writing and directing it as well.”
While being successful at the box office yet panned by critics and some fans, Suicide Squad 2 has seemingly more excitement surrounding it than the original movie with James Gunn’s name being attached to the project. Gunn has faced some major hardships since being targeted by the alt-right after some questionable tweets the director made in the past and while he claims they were made in jest, the family focused Walt Disney Studios and Chairman Alan Horn decided to sever ties with him entirely.
With Gunn going from the MCU to the DCEU and taking over the Suicide Squad franchise there is no doubt that the future is very bright for DC Entertainment moving forward.
