The first modern cinematic treatment of The World’s Mightiest Mortal returns to Toronto, but not for publicity.
The cast of Shazam! have reportedly returned for reshoots after completing principal photography last May. Considering the film takes place during the holiday season, the temperature change will make it less difficult to act like it’s cold outside.
The project was linked to the yet-to-be-confirmed departure of Henry Cavill in the role of Superman. Warner Bros. had tried to negotiate with Cavill to make a cameo appearance in Shazam! since this film is an official addition to the DCEU, but could not come to an agreement. Given that Cavill’s agent gave fans a glimmer of hope that he might return, that leads to speculation that these reshoots involve a renegotiation between both parties. Or it could just be run of the mill reshot scenes that director David F. Sandberg feels needs some fine tuning.
Shazam! reshoots are scheduled for the first three weeks of November. The completed film is scheduled to debut in theatres April 5, 2019.
