“American Ninja Warrior” Champ Heads to Themyscira for “Wonder Woman 1984”

It was recently announced that American Ninja Warrior champion Jessie Graff would not be able to attend the National Finals because she has a different assignment.

This assignment has to do with a certain Amazonian warrior’s second cinematic appearance now shooting in The Canary Islands in Spain.

Wonder Woman 1984, starring Gal Gadot and Chris Pine, has cast Jessie as a stunt woman for the film based upon her incredible build and demonstrated athleticism.

This is not the first time for Graff in this capacity; before gaining international fame on American Ninja Warrior, she was Melissa Benoist’s stunt double for The CW’s Supergirl. And before that, she had stunt roles in films like Iron Man 2 and The Dark Knight. In all likelihood, in keeping with their casting of Crossfit athletes and female police officers that got plenty of screen time in both Wonder Woman and Justice League, Jessie may be cast as an Amazon on the mythic island of Themyscira. Robin Wright, who portrayed Diana’s trainer Antiope in the first film, has been reported to be heading to the Canary Islands for a flashback scene.

Returning director Patty Jenkins wrote on her Twitter account:

“We are loving having the truly great @JESSIEgraffPWR as one of our Wonder Women on #WW84. She’s the real thing and is blowing us all away!!!”

Wonder Woman 1984, which has not yet received a plot description, is set for release on November 1, 2019.
