Jay Oliva Comments on Ben Affleck’s Script for ‘The Batman’

Jay Oliva has seen some things.

Oliva has been a storyboard artist on most of the movies inside of the DCEU.  He was working on The Batman while Ben Affleck was still attached to direct, write and star in The Batman.  And he has seen and read Ben Affleck’s script for The Batman.

Recently, Oliva was asked on Twitter about Ben Affleck’s script for The Batman and held nothing back about the now “dead” script, calling it the best Batman script he’s ever read.

“The original Affleck script was the best Batman script I’ve ever read.  Ben had a kick ass story and I believe that the audience and fans would have loved it.”

While Oliva loved the script, Affleck never truly seemed happy with it and is rumored to be one of the reasons why he decided not to direct the movie, enter Matt Reeves.  Once Reeves took over after Affleck’s departure, he decided to start from scratch and write his own script.

Since the beginning, the DCEU has been shrouded in mystery, and The Batman has been no exception.  There is no doubt that one day Ben Affleck will talk about his script and ideas for The Batman, but for now, Matt Reeves is the visionary behind the cowl.
