Summary

With the Ravager threat dismantled, the Corp leaders have a moment to regroup and all are wondering, where is Simon Baz? Guy insists on treachery, while Cruz comes to her partner’s defense. What makes things worse is that Jordan isn’t taking sides which leaves an eerie silence among the Lanterns as they make there way to a planet to resettle what remains of the Penelops’ peoples.

Meanwhile Baz has his own issues to contend with back on Earth that the lanterns and the Corp itself are not ready for!

Positives

The way in which the main villain escapes and has attacked the Lanterns in this issue is really interesting as it flips there source of power against them. The level of power now granted to the villain is rather immense!

The ending of this issue also hold an awesome final page with Baz almost connecting his previous life and attitude to his current one. This reader is excited to see what happens when Baz begins using his lantern power not as a mainstay weapon but simply as another tool in his arsenal.

Negatives

The plot of this issue feels very slim as it simply connects the twist ending from the last issue to the next issue where we are likely to see our big showdown. The story layout in this issue is good on it’s own and would be a great reveal had we not already been treated to it previously. Because of this, we are left with an empty feeling when reading events that should be powerful.

Verdict

Green Lanterns #54 has it’s heart in the right place but not all of the story elements are in order. Overall it’s a fun read setting up the ending to this series!
