Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Bid To Play Batman Ends, Flashpoint Film Will Be Revamped

A year after it was announced at SDCC, the Flashpoint film seems to have gone the way of so many before it and ended its run. The Scarlet Speedster’s film will now be an origin story focusing on Barry Allen’s birth into The Flash.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan appeared as Thomas Wayne in the second installment to the universe franchise, Batman V. Superman Dawn of Justice. Fans speculated that a Flashpoint film would lead to the actor taking on the role again, but as a gritty gun toting bat vigilante.  Morgan recently opened up about the role and how he felt about losing the possibility of dawning the cape and cowl.

“When Zack Snyder was involved with the DC Universe more, I think there was a real possibility,” Morgan said about playing Batman in Flashpoint. “But now that he’s kind of stepped away a little bit I’ve heard different things that Flashpoint might not be going in that direction. It will be more of an origin story for Flash.”

John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein officially signed on to direct The Flash.

The film faced multiple discrepancies, from director changes to script rewrites and even the studio entirely dropping it from the slate. The film’s new direction will hopefully follow a much more structured regimen and bring hope to the Central City fans.

Are you disappointed Jeffrey Dean Morgan won’t get to play Batman? Could we still maybe see a hint of it?
