Federal Judge Rules AT&T Can Complete Its Purchase of Time Warner

In October 2016 we heard that AT&T was going to purchase Time Warner. At the time we couldn’t believe it, it wouldn’t happen, but now it’s come to fruition.

When big conglomerates agree to purchase one another, it becomes a lengthy legal process that involves the government. A federal judge has ruled in approval of the merge amounting to 85.4 billion dollars.

“We are pleased that, after conducting a full and fair trial on the merits, the Court has categorically rejected the government’s lawsuit to block our merger with Time Warner,” AT&T General Counsel David McAtee said in a statement. “We look forward to closing the merger on or before June 20 so we can begin to give consumers video entertainment that is more affordable, mobile, and innovative.”

But what does this mean for DC and the DCU? It’s too early to tell yet, but expect some top executives to leave. Some have already left including DC President Diane Nelson, Geoff Johns stepping down as COO, and Warner Bros. Head of Casting Lora Kennedy. At&T may have their own ideas of how they want the business to run, or they may just leave them alone.

We’ll have more information for you as it comes our way! Stay tuned DC fans!

Hi! I'm Shaina aka the Jokergurl. I've been studying comics (namely Batman) since I was 12 years old, and possibly even before that. My forte is being up on absolutely everything there is to know about the Caped Crusader, and both the Clown Prince and Princess of Crime. I recently graduated from Southern New Hampshire University with an MA in English and Creative Writing and an MFA in Creative Writing from National University. I am also a Digital Marketing expert. I have a cat Strawberry and a dog Ashes and spend most of my time reading, editing, cosplaying, and gaming on Game of Honor. Have a happy!
