According to his own Twitter account, James Gunn was “given the opportunity” to direct a DC Comics film.
This was given as a response to a fan asking whether or not James Gunn would ever consider directing a DC film adding, “But who knows, maybe?”
This is not the first time the acclaimed director has addressed the matter, stating in 2016, “I’ve had opportunities to make DC films, but I haven’t said yes to anything, and not sure I would at this time” during a Q & A on his facebook page. Note, however, that he has not ruled out the possibility in any of his responses.
James Gunn’s next Marvel film will be Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
