‘Nightwing’ Director Weighs In On The Zac Efron Casting Rumors

Fan-casting and casting rumors are all the rage these days.  It seems that one cannot go on to their social media account without seeing “so and so should play this” or “so and so linked to a certain film.”  It’s so common nowadays that its hard to separate fact from fiction.

Our latest rumor is no different.  The “so and so” is Hollywood High School Musical star, Zac Efron. The “certain film” is the live-action adaptation of DC Comics hero, Nightwing, but before the rumors of Efron taking up the role of Dick Grayson/Nightwing in the DCEU could gain any momentum, enter Director Chris McKay (LEGO Batman Movie) who has been tapped to help the film to debunk the discussion by posting “Not True” on his Twitter when asked about the Efron rumors.

Chris McKay has been very open that there is no truth behind the casting rumors of Zac Efron as the main hero of his film.  To complicate matters, a few names have been thrown around to play Dick Grayson. Colton Haynes (Arrow), Jared Padalecki (Supernatural) have both expressed interest, and Dylan O’Brien (Maze Runner) was nominated by his Maze Runner co-star, Dexter Darden to play Grayson on the silver screen.

While all signs point away from Zac Efron’s casting as Dick Grayson, the old saying stays the same, “where there’s smoke, there’s fire,” no matter what Chris McKay wants to tweet. Maybe he’ll change his mind, or he’s trying to steer us down a different path. Who knows.
