Review: Bombshells United #16

Summary

Wham! The Bombshells dive into a deadly volcanic lair, while the agents of Apokolips clash with the royal roller derby, the female fury, the space jammer—Big Barda!

Positives

In the first few pages, we find out that the Riddler has unleashed a massive scheme which may endanger everyone on the island.  This Riddler is middling between charming and dubious, a different take on the character, and one that is great. We also get a different kind of villain in Granny Goodness, a mix between Cruella de Vil and Mata Hari, someone who is more than a match for the Bombshells.

We are introduced to a new hero, Big Barda, someone who is not afraid to get into a fight, as she jumps right into the mix with Granny Goodness. The end of the book prepares the reader for the ultimate end, as a few storylines are wrapped up and some relationships naturally blossom.

Negatives

There are no negatives worth mentioning in this issue.

Verdict

This book deserves to continue, as it adds to the nostalgia Darwyn Cooke started in The New Frontier.  So please, DC…give us more Bombshells!!!
