Summary
Disciples of the Church of Luna to the rescue!! Orgies, drugs, and the seventies oh my!!! Antonio Luna found himself loving everyone in the 70s’. He smoked, injected, and ingested drugs while amidst orgies. In a lull he found himself thinking and telling a group of people about the hollow Earth theory. He found they believed him no matter what he said and started to preach to the masses at his drug fueled orgies.
Quickly he came up with a theory, “We are what we eat.” But not just what we eat, but the sustenance we give our minds, the people and influences we bring into our lives, and much more. Quickly he had a following with zealous believers and the Church of Luna was born.
His devoted followers had kept an eye on him all the years since he left and saved him from the ninja mummies. To Luna’s surprise the original followers are alive and well. They have embraced his teachings and live openly, nude, and happily. They have even managed to find the hollow Earth and build a church in his name, with anatomically correct sculptures of him!
Soon they turn on him and Val, attacked him and trying to prep him as a meal! For he is their leader, pure of mind and incredible in history. After all, you are what you eat!
Positives
Issue three of this crazy story does not let up on the crazy! Beyond the shock value of the nudity, the story that develops further here for Luna is compelling. We learn that having followers becomes too much responsibility so he leave, afraid to be responsible for them. This leads him to understand the problem with his way of life.
While Luna wants nothing more than to be remembered and known as the most amazing and well travelled person in the world that comes at a toll. If you’re traveling all the time, moving from place to place and having adventures, you abandon the ability to have a home, real friends, and family. This realization strikes Luna like a train and shows amazing character growth.
Negatives
There are no negatives worth mentioning in this issue.
Verdict
Between deep emotional growth, ninja mummy attacks, and drug fueled orgies, Deathbed #3 is a great addition to the life of Antonio Luna and will be a great addition to your comic collection!
