DC Comics and the Library of Congress, the world’s largest library, will celebrate the groundbreaking 1000th issue of Action Comics to commemorate 80 years of the Man of Steel.

The event will feature appearances by former president of DC Comics, Paul Levitz and Superman artist and writer, Dan Jurgens. It will take place Thursday, March 29, in the Coolidge Auditorium in the Thomas Jefferson Building.

Fans unable to attend the event will be able to view it online. It will be livestreamed on the Library of Congress’ YouTube page at youtube.com/libraryofcongress.

As part of the celebration, DC Comics will publish, “Action Comics: 80 Years of Superman”. The book will celebrate the 1000th issue of Action Comics and will be released April 17, 2018.

In 2017, the Library welcomed visitors to explore “Library of Awesome” a pop-up display of more than 100 iconic comic-book issues of today’s most popular characters. The collections of the Library of Congress include nearly 140,000 comic books dating back to the 1930s.

Cameron Tevis

Hi, I'm Cameron Tevis and I've been a comic book, anime and film fan my entire life. While I like Marvel and anime my true love is DC Comics. My father, who was a fan himself, introduced me at a very young age to the amazing characters in DC (especially Hal Jordan Green Lantern). I think it's a fantastic time to be a comic book fan and I'm happy I get to write about the company that I love so much. Besides being a DC fan, I am a designer and I recently started a comic book series of my own called Event Cycle 6 published through Aporian Comics. I recently wrote and directed a short film "The Misadventures of Harley Quinn". And most importantly I am now a father to my beautiful daughter Arya Jade!
