Similar to The Killing Joke graphic novel, the Joker’s backstory in his origin movie will feature him as failed comedian set in the 1980s.
The film looks to have a strong team at the helm with Todd Phillips (The Hangover Trilogy) directing and writing, Martin Scorsese producing, and Scott Silver (8 Mile) writing. Script rewrites are currently in progress, but the film could be in production by the end of 2018. Joaquin Phoenix is in talks to play the Joker, but isn’t saying much for now.
