Deeper Meaning For Justice League Scene Confirmed

Now that Justice League has been released digitally, fans have been able to scour the special features including some deleted scenes.

One particular scene has sparked speculation and now director Zack Snyder himself has confirmed its meaning.

Choosing - DC Comics News

The deleted scene shows a resurrected Superman passing the black suit as he makes his way to his preferred vibrant blue and red costume. In the comics after being revived Superman wore the black costume which helped him restore his powers.

But in the film since he passes over the costume, social media has seen many theories about that scene.

One Vero user, Nick Albright noted the parallels between Superman choosing the classic costume and the words Jonathon Kent (Kevin Costner) spoke in Man of Steel. Jonathon told a young Clark Kent that one day he would need to make a choice to “stand proud in front of the human race.”

Zack Snyder confirmed this theory with his reply:

I think of course it’s that (what you said) and that now in one sense he has been born twice once on Krypton once on Earth and it is this reality that he now is starkly aware of as he moves through the ship

Snyder also has said that the scene was to symbolize the moment the true Superman was born. His birth on Krypton led him to Earth, but his rebirth in the Kryptonian pool is what gave birth to the true, inspirational Man of Tomorrow.

One can only imagine how great these films could have been if WB went with Zack Snyder’s full vision.

Justice League is now available digitally with the DVD and BluRay set for release on March 13.

Cameron Tevis

Hi, I'm Cameron Tevis and I've been a comic book, anime and film fan my entire life. While I like Marvel and anime my true love is DC Comics. My father, who was a fan himself, introduced me at a very young age to the amazing characters in DC (especially Hal Jordan Green Lantern). I think it's a fantastic time to be a comic book fan and I'm happy I get to write about the company that I love so much. Besides being a DC fan, I am a designer and I recently started a comic book series of my own called Event Cycle 6 published through Aporian Comics. I recently wrote and directed a short film "The Misadventures of Harley Quinn". And most importantly I am now a father to my beautiful daughter Arya Jade!
