Summary

Gotham has begun to embrace Jack Napier and his rhetoric and even Duke Thomas has now thrown his support to Jack Napier’s run for Councilman. After a rally for Napier goes bad after Batman appears, Napier meets with Commissioner Gordon and proposes a plan that should make everyone happy.

Slowly but surely most people begin to believe Napier has truly reformed. After Neo-Joker attacks, even Commissioner Gordon begins to waiver and sees that Napier might be offering something better for Gotham than the Batman.

Commissioner Gordon then tries to get Batgirl and Nightwing to listen to Napier and his plan for the funds that were allocated for the devastation left in Batman’s wake.

Positives

Murphy maintains the high-level of quality he set since the first issue and progresses the story well in this issue. It’s fantastic to see even the most loyal Batman allies begin to see Napier’s point. Their growing doubts in Batman and growing faith in Napier makes the story that much more impactful.

The topical political issues in the book make it that much more compelling regardless of which side of the political aisle you are.

Negatives

I honestly have nothing negative to say about this issue. It is a compelling issue from beginning to end with beautiful artwork that matches the storyline perfectly

Verdict

I have said in past reviews of this mini-series that I can only hope Murphy can finish this mini-series with the same level of storytelling that it began with because if he does then it has the potential to become one of the top five Batman stories of all time. I cannot recommend this mini-series enough.

Cameron Tevis

Hi, I'm Cameron Tevis and I've been a comic book, anime and film fan my entire life. While I like Marvel and anime my true love is DC Comics. My father, who was a fan himself, introduced me at a very young age to the amazing characters in DC (especially Hal Jordan Green Lantern). I think it's a fantastic time to be a comic book fan and I'm happy I get to write about the company that I love so much. Besides being a DC fan, I am a designer and I recently started a comic book series of my own called Event Cycle 6 published through Aporian Comics. I recently wrote and directed a short film "The Misadventures of Harley Quinn". And most importantly I am now a father to my beautiful daughter Arya Jade!
