Summary

Deadshot is sent by Amanda Waller to retrieve a stolen piece of American technology.

Positives

The pencils in this story are done by Lalit Sharma with inks by Jagdish Kumar and colors by Beth Sotelo. They’re a good team. The characters look great and there are some solid colors. The story definitely looks good.

Desiree Proctor and Erica Harell have a good handle on Deadshot’s voice. There’s some good dialogue, especially in the exchanges between Deadshot and Waller. I also like the tone of the piece; there are elements that are fairly twisted that give the story an edge and fits in with Deadshot’s world. I like the idea presented that Deadshot’s life is even more screwed up than he thought and it only gets worse.

Negatives

I’m not sure how I feel about Deadshot’s brother still being alive. It’s weird to reveal him as alive only for Deadshot to have to immediately kill him. I like the situation that it puts Deadshot in because it’s so messed up, but it also feels a little pointless. At the end, Deadshot says nothing has changed. That feels odd to me.

Verdict

This is a really good story. It’s paced well and never feels dull. The art is solid and there are interesting character moments supported by strong dialogue. I recommend checking this story out.
