Top DC Editor Gets His Pink Slip

DC Comics has made a breakthrough with the recent sexual harassment allegations across the U.S. DC Comics has officially terminated Eddie Berganza following his harassment allegations. An email from Diane Nelson’s office was sent out to DC Talent to notify them of the recent termination.

DC Entertainment decided to release an official statement on Berganza’s firing:

Warner Bros and DC Entertainment have terminated the employment of DC Comics Group Editor Eddie Berganza. We are committed to eradicating harassment and ensuring that all employees, as well as our freelance community, are aware of our policies, are comfortable reporting any concerns and feel supported by our Company.

His sexual harassment charges come from a recent BuzzFeed article of Liz Gehrlein Marsham’s account of within weeks of being hired as an editor, Berganza forcibly kissed her and groped her at a bar near the company offices. After Berganza was promoted to Executive Editor–despite multiple complaints to DC’s HR dept. Marsham expressed her concern to Editor-in-Chief Bob Harras. Marsham moved away from the editing department to discontinue working for Berganza.

Berganza has been employed by DC since 1992, editing the highest-profile comics such as current Dark Knights: Metal. His photo was also included on the cover of Saturday’s New York Daily News along with fellow sexual harassers Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, and Louis C.K.

Bye, bye, Berganza. No means no.

Hi! I'm Shaina aka the Jokergurl. I've been studying comics (namely Batman) since I was 12 years old, and possibly even before that. My forte is being up on absolutely everything there is to know about the Caped Crusader, and both the Clown Prince and Princess of Crime. I recently graduated from Southern New Hampshire University with an MA in English and Creative Writing and an MFA in Creative Writing from National University. I am also a Digital Marketing expert. I have a cat Strawberry and a dog Ashes and spend most of my time reading, editing, cosplaying, and gaming on Game of Honor. Have a happy!
