Summary
The Justice League of America is stuck in the mircoverse doing battle against Aut– who is in the process of destroying the microverse! Can Ray Palmer and Ryan Choi–both the Atom–stop Aut before it’s too late?
Positives
Ryan Choi is a star in this issue and it was awesome! If anyone wasn’t entirely sold on Ryan being a replacement for Ray Palmer as the Atom, then Orlando won’t disappoint you! From the beginning to the end of the issue, Ryan takes charge leading the team–and he gets results as well. Teaming up with Ray Palmer, Ryan takes on Aut who seeks to destroy then restart the microverse! Thanks to Ray, and ultimately Ryan’s quick thinking, Aut is defeated, and the team is also saved by Ryan as well.
Negatives
I really have no negatives about this issue. It’s very much action paced as Ryan from the very start of the page is caught in battle against Aut. Although he was deceived by Aut, Ryan makes up for it and once he defeats him even Ray is impressed by how far Ryan has come as the Atom.
Verdict
Justice League of America #17 is a good read. It’s fast paced, full of action, and Ray Palmer in the end passes down the title of the Atom to Ryan, who is a very worthy successor. Going back to the beginning of the series in JLA, Ryan was very unsure of himself and his role. Now he’s finally become confident of himself and his abilities and this issue did a great job of showing that.
