Poison Ivy to Gain Powers In Gotham Season 4

Maggie Geha’s Ivy is set to gain her powers beginning her transformation into the iconic Poison Ivy in season four of Gotham, although the full transformation into the classic supervillain is not expected just yet.

Ivy, originally played by Clare Foley was a young peer to Camren Bicondova’s Selina Kyle and later recast with Geha stepping in to play the older incarnation.

Gotham season four is expected to edge numerous characters that much closer to their more inevitable comic book counterparts: Bruce has donned a pre-Batman suit, Butch Gilzan is to return reborn as Soloman Grundy and now we learn that Ivy is to gain her powers and begin her transformation.

In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, executive producer Bryan Wynbrandt offered some insight into the transformation awaiting Ivy:

“Without saying specifically which ones, I would say it’s fair to say that her powers are going to increase and gain in their canonical way”

Without completely spoiling the surprise, Wynbrandt did add the following:

“We’re not going to go full green, but we are going to transform Ivy in a way that we think the audience won’t expect, but that is pushing her along her development to becoming the Ivy that everyone knows from the comic book. Staying true to our origin storytelling, we’re not going to get quite that far with her where she’s the green Ivy, but she’s definitely going to change.”

Gotham season four has thus far brought in the shows lowest ratings but for those who have stuck with the show it will be very interesting to follow Ivy’s transformation through season four.

Ivy and her future Poison Ivy

The only downside to all of this is of course the wait for Ivy’s transformation to happen. Wynbrandt explained that the transformation won’t be happening early in the season:

“She’s going to be away for a while […] We are kind of ramping up to her becoming a larger player in later episodes”

So, for those loyal fans, the wait continues.

Gotham airs Thursdays on FOX.
