Summary
Batgirl and Nightwing have to deal with a crazed psychiatrist connected to their past attacking people in a hospital.
Positives
I love Dan Mora’s cover. The two characters look great and the background is amazing. I like that, at first glance, it might seem like a romantic cover. The two are kissing and there is a lot of pink in the background. But upon a closer look, one sees the insanity of the cover. And I like that the cover at the bottom is somewhat normal but gets more insane towards the top.
The interior art features pencils by Chris Wildgoose, inks by Jose Marzan Jr. and colors by Mat Lopes. I really like the backgrounds. The team uses them effectively for emotions. There is a moment in which Babs and Dick kiss; the background turns pink and when Dick breaks it off, the background immediately goes back to normal. The characters look great and the art has an energetic feel to it.
This is still an interesting mystery. Whoever is pulling the strings is doing creepy stuff and leaving behind dead bodies. I like how the death in this issue weighs on the heroes especially Nightwing. The death has meaning and affects the characters in a way that feels real. Even though the character isn’t someone we know anything about, Hope Larson allows this person’s death to feel something instead of just being collateral damage.
Negatives
There are no negatives worth mentioning in this issue.
Verdict
This is a great issue. The art is cool with a fun and energetic style. There’s an interesting mystery both in the past and present as we try to figure out what Babs and Dick did and what that has to do with what’s happening now. It’s a fun read and I highly recommend it.
