“Nightwing” Gets A New Creative Team

DC Comics recently announced that Sam Humphries (Green Lanterns) will be taking over Nightwing when current writer Tim Seeley leaves to write Green Lanterns.   The two writers will trade titles beginning in December when Humphries writes Nightwing #35.  Seeley has had an extensive history writing for Dick Grayson, but promises that his final arc, “Raptor’s Revenge” will end in a big way.

Sam Humphries promises the title won’t slow down once he takes the reigns as he and oncoming penciler Bernard Chang (Batman Beyond) are already working on the new villain that will be introduced in their first issue together.  The first arc will come from Nightwing’s past and feature flashbacks to his days as Robin and as college student Dick Grayson.   Humphries has nothing but respect for Nightwing saying:

“Dick Grayson is one of the greatest characters in all of the DCU – he’s got heart, humor, legacy, and he kicks ass.  To fully unravel the scope of this guy, and to dig deep into Nightwing as a character, we’re going to experience some of his early days as Robin, and also his time as Hudson University student, Dick Grayson. It’s all tied together – his history is part of what makes him so exciting.”

Humphries and Chang will be developing each story together in a more unique approach.  Humphries will only write the general plot of the issue before Chang begins to pencil.  They want to be influenced by one another and develop Nightwing more organically.

The first arc will be titled “The Untouchable” and will begin with Nightwing #35, “Hunters!” available on December 20, 2017.
