Ever since it was announced that David Ayer would not return to direct the sequel to the hit film, Suicide Squad, Warner Bros. has been searching for a new director.
The shortlist of directors was narrowed down to Mel Gibson, Jaume Collet-Serra and Gavin O’Connor. Once Gibson and Collet-Serra passed on the film for other projects, O’Connor became the official choice. O’Connor’s past credits include Warrior and most recently The Accountant with Ben Affleck.
Despite earning negative reviews, Suicide Squad was a major hit that brought in more than $745 million, which makes production of Suicide Squad 2 a top priority for Warner Bros. Shooting is set to begin in fall of 2018.
Until then, Suicide Squad is available on Blu-Ray and DVD.
