Funko Teases Possible Alternative Costume For Mera In Justice League

With Justice League just a few months away, fans just can’t get enough of all the promotion and rumors circulating the movie before it’s even released. A few months ago, we reported on another story about a leaked photograph that revealed just how Steppenwolf was going to look like in the upcoming Justice League film. Now we have another image of a Funko Pop figurine that reveals an alternate costume for Mera that has fans speculating as to it’s possible story implications for both Justice League and Aquaman.

If you look at the image below, you see a Hot Topic exclusive Funko Pop figurine that has Mera dressed in a red suit as opposed to the green outfit we have come to know.

Another thing to note on the figurine is that the exclusive version also has a different version of headgear than the green version we have seen already. The green version is more in line with what the character looks like in the stand alone Aquaman as well as how the character looks like in the comic books. Could this be a new costume that will be revealed in Justice League?

In the DC Universe, Mera is Aquaman’s love interest-turned wife-turned Queen of Atlantis who will be appearing in both the Justice League (due out in November 2017) and Aquaman movies (due out in December of 2018). One could speculate that this red costume appears in Justice League on Mera before she ascends to the throne along with Arthur Curry in Aquaman. Maybe it’s a way to distinguish the transition for Mera from noble Atlantean to queen of the entire underwater kingdom.

Just like so many things that we anxiously waiting for, we are all going to have summon some more patience and wait for the movies to come out.

Justice League comes out November 17th, 2017. Aquaman comes out December 21, 2018.
