Ray Fisher Shares His Experience on Being Cast as Cyborg

Recently, actor Ray Fisher shared his experience of when he first learned that he had been cast as Victor Stone/Cyborg in Justice League. Unlike his other cast members, Fisher was the least experienced film actor to be cast. Although fans got a glimpse of Fisher as Cyborg in last year’s Batman v Superman, this year we will see him more in action as he teams up with other DC superheroes including Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman, and possibly even Superman himself.

In spite of not seeing the full version of Cyborg in the DCEU yet, the fans have gotten fairly well-acquainted with the actor over the last two years. With his consistent presence on social media where he’s showing his support on the DC Extended Universe, to his excited appearances at comic book conventions, Ray Fisher has done a great job building a rapport with the character and the DC fans around the world.

Last weekend, Ray Fisher appeared at AsiaPOP Comicon in the Philippines where he talked with fans about the film and what it was like auditioning for the role or Cyborg originally and described his excitement. Check his reaction below:

“I tested for the piece, I went out to Detroit and tested the same time they were … shooting Batman v Superman. It was one of those rare moments in life where you say, ‘hey, listen, if it doesn’t go my way, I’ve had a good time… and I’m just happy for the experience.’ When he [Snyder] called me up, he said one sentence… ‘Well, it looks like we’re making a movie.’ [Drops to the ground and starts rolling around] I was like, ‘you don’t even understand! I watch Batman Returns every Christmas!’”

Based on Cyborg’s appearances in the Justice League trailers, it clearly illustrates that Warner Bros. is making great efforts in bringing him his first live-action debut a success. With some of the extensive reshoots on the film have been reportedly focusing heavily on reshaping the character’s tone, it is clear that the studio wants to make his debut in the DCEU a success.

Assuming that we follow the slate Warner Bros. gave us for their DCEU films, fans are looking forward, within a few years, to having Fisher in his own solo Cyborg film. Although there are still no visible movements or developments on the project, it is generally agreed that it would be included in DCEU’s titles that would be released by Warner Bros. Also, Cyborg has been rumored to be playing a role in Ezra Miller’s The Flash: Flashpoint. But with the project looking for a new director, it is still unknown if that’s still the case.

Justice League hits theaters on November 17, 2017.
