What’s Up With Deathstroke? Joe Manganiello Knows, But Can’t Say

Many DC fans were excited when they learned that True Blood star Joe Manganiello was cast as Deathstroke in Ben Affleck’s The Batman movie. Since then Affleck has dropped out as director and Matt Reeves has stepped in (and is not using Affleck’s script). What might that mean for the role of DC’s most dangerous assassin and his place in the DCEU? It seems Joe knows, but he’s staying mum. He had this to say to say to the Hollywood Reporter when asked about the characters fate amidst the shakeup surrounding the film,

THR: I think a lot of people are wondering what the status of Deathstroke is in the next Batman movie now that Ben Affleck is off the project as director. Do you have any information about that?

JM: I don’t. Well, I do but nothing that I can share. I know everything but I can’t say any of it.

THR: Any idea when we’ll find out?

JM: It’s not up to me. That’s a good question for Warner Bros. and DC.

The interviewer did ask Joe if he meant it “In a happy way or a downtrodden way”. Manganiello replied he was “shooting for a neutral tone”.

Given his enthusiasm for the role we hope that his interpretation of Deathstroke can find a home somewhere in the growing list of films in the DCEU that are on the horizon. But as far as a place in The Batman? We’ll just have to wait and see as production ramps up in the weeks and months ahead.
