Krypton Series Set To Air On SYFY

You saw that right, the SYFY channel has officially announced the television show Krypton has been green lighted! SYFY is trying to tap into the audiences that love comic books, science fiction, horror, and many other genres. With that in mind it only really makes sense that they would choose Superman’s home world of Krypton to be a great launching point.

That is right, it won’t be focusing on the boy scout himself, but rather taking a look at his grandfather, Seg-El, played by Cameron Cuffe. For those who have been glued to everything DC you might have seen that leaked teaser a few weeks ago. This of course made those who saw it super excited for the television series. With all the noise from fans and after seeing the traider, it is no wonder that SYFY and NBC Universal decided to go ahead with this wondrous series.

If you are wondering who wrote the pilot and story then you will be happy to know that it was written by Goyer and Kindler. The story was written by the same guy who wrote “Once Upon a Time” & “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles“, so you know it should be pretty gritty and amazing. Goyer is also serving as the producer with Colm McCarthy as co-executive producer. As a note they are using the characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, which were published through none other than DC Comics.

Chris McCumber, President of Entertainment Networks for NBC Universal Cable Entertainment, stated that fans could expect the series debut later this year to early 2018.

Now if you are still on the fence and want to know what the official synopsis is then look no further as it is just below. Taken straight from the horse’s mouth, or in this case straight from SYFY’s own web page,

Set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet, Krypton follows Superman’s grandfather (Cameron Cuffe, “The Halcyon”) — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos. Based on DC characters, Krypton is from Warner Horizon Scripted Television and is executive produced by David S. Goyer (“Man of Steel,” “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” “The Dark Knight” trilogy) through his Phantom Four banner. Damian Kindler (“Sleepy Hollow”) will serve as executive producer and showrunner.

Hey everyone, my name is Brandon and it has always been a dream to work in comic books. And to do this is amazing and a lot of fun for me because not only do I get to read and write about what DC Comics is doing but it gives me more insight into who the characters are.
