Summary
Cyborg’s systems are continue to go out of control! As he tries to gain control of his boom tube technology he finds himself sucked into his childhood video game! Here, he finds a childhood friend set on revenge! Can Cyborg make it back home to save his father?
Positives
I have to say I really feel like John Semper Jr. missed the mark with this particular book here. Once again Cyborg’s past comes back to haunt him, but I really feel like Semper Jr. could’ve told a different story than he presented. The threat that Cyborg faces named H8-Bit, seeks to destroy Cyborg for a childhood wrong. It was a good backdrop for the story, but from there it slowly degrades. Semper Jr. saves face by giving me an ending that I didn’t expect — but that doesn’t make the read any better.
Negatives
First off, I have to say I hate the villain in this book. His backstory, although interesting and pretty emotional, gets very weak when his abilities come into play. Thankfully Cyborg is able to get rid of H8-Bit once and for all, but I really hope that Semper Jr. redeems himself in the next issue.
Verdict
Although Will Conrad delivers great detail in his pencils and overall work, its the story that Semper Jr. provides that makes it fall flat.
