WB CEO Hints at Possible DCE Streaming Service!

Warner Bros. CEO and chairman Kevin Tsujihara held an investor’s conference which saw the renewed commitment to the studio’s big franchises which includes Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and the DC Comics entertainment imprints which includes DCU Animation, DC TV series, and the DCEU.

According to Tsujihara, WB has been considering new routes of distributing content to the public and one of the first targets is DC Entertainment which he says has a “rabid” fan base. Companies focusing on this ‘a la carte’ programming have the ability to launch a streaming service which offers specific content that consumers want without the same level of overhead and advertising costs traditional broadcast media has. Many business insiders are speculating that WB could launch a DC streaming service! Tsujihara addressed the rumor saying “We’ve been working on that quite feverishly over the last 12 months.”

Streaming services have become the preferred method of media over the years with Marvel having the upper hand launching a Nexflix series but no superhero/TV show studio has launched their own service dedicated exclusively to one product. DCE could be the one to pop the cherry on that trend but one wonders if they could fill an entire streaming service with enough content to keep fans subscribing.

If DC offers a streaming service, would you subscribe?
