During WWE Backlash event last night on Pay-Per-View some Divas paid tribute to some iconic DC women during their time in the ring. Last night’s event for the Divas was a 6-pack challenge elimination match for the newly minted WWE Smackdown Live! Women’s Championship Belt (which went to the Irish Lass Kicker Becky Lynch). This was the first of many new belts to come after the grand split of the WWE franchise. Fresh off her time at NXT, Alexa Bliss sported a brand new pink-and-blue outfit inspired by the Clown Princess of Crime herself, Harley Quinn. Alexa had her blonde hair done in pig-tails added with red-dyed tips and pink-and-blue bows in her hair along with her outfit. Alexa also sported a pink-and-blue tutu belt.
Next up is long-time wrestler and the longest running Diva’s champion (now entitled Women’s Champion), and girlfriend of John Cena, Nikki Bella. Nikki and her sister Brie have dominated the WWE for years as the Bella Twins and have torn many other women down with their Twin Magic moves. Nikki paid homage last night to DC’s Wonder Woman. Nikki had only recently returned to the WWE following an injury in October 2015 and celebrated Wonder Woman’s 75th anniversary with her patriotic ring gear which also paid homage to the September 11th attacks. Nikki confirmed that her ring gear paid homage to Wonder Woman in a pre-match tweet.
