Familiar Characters Coming To ‘Supergirl’

We know that Tyler Hoechlin will play Kara’s Kryptonian cousin Kal-El/Clark Kent/Superman on Supergirl in Season 2. But now it turns out some other superpowered beings will pay a visit to National City soon.

Leal should be a familiar face. She has been featured in motion pictures like Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married? and Addicted, in addition to roles on television series such as former CW show Wildcats and NBC’s Grimm. Leal will play Miss Martian/M’gann M’orzz/Megan Morse. The character was first featured in Teen Titans (vol. 3) #37 (August 2006) and was created by Geoff Johns and Tony Daniel. She was later brought to television in the animated series Young Justice, played by Danica McKeller. Miss Martian is a White Martian with powers similar to the Martian Manhunter (played on Supergirl by David Harewood), including superhuman strength, telepathy and telekinesis.

Wood has appeared on a few CW shows, including The Carrie Diaries, The Vampire Diaries and Containment. Wood will appear in the season opener of Supergirl as Mon-El. Mon-El (aka Valor, M’Onel or Lar Gand) is a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes. The character first appeared in Superboy #89 (June 1961), and was created by Robert Bernstein and George Papp. Mon-El is from a race similar to Kryptonians called the Daxamities. They exhibit the same powers as Krpytonians, but instead of a vulnerability to Kryptonite, their weakness is lead. Wood has been cast as a series regular on Supergirl.

Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist and premieres on October 10 on The CW at 8/7c.
