It is finally 2016 and that means the DC Universe will soon be taking the world in full force. In a couple of months the Batman V Superman premiere will be upon us. Personally I think this will be the backbone of the new DC cinematic universe. Ben Affleck as The Dark Knight, Henry Cavill as The Man of Steel, and Gal Gadot as the Amazon Princess are the perfect three to take these movies to the next level. A story long overdue will be brought to the big screen coming this March.
That brings me to the next DC inspired film that will be coming out later this year. Suicide Squad has quickly become one of the most highly anticipated movies of all time. With an all-star cast how could it not be? Jared Leto will be making his debut as the Joker and Will Smith will be playing sharp shooter Deadshot. Also, Margot Robbie will be bringing Harley Quinn to the silver screen for the first time. In fact, in a recent interview with Cineplex, Robbie discussed her excitement over the role and about the insatiable Harley herself.
“Harley is creepy, violent, crazy — all of the things that I aspire to be!” Robbie said of the highly revered character. “It’s the fun of living vicariously through someone who is doing things that I would never do in real life.”
Robbie also mentions how much she was looking forward to working with co-star Will Smith again.
“I enjoyed working with Will so, so much that I was overjoyed when I heard that we would be working together again,” she raves. “I actually texted him when I heard he was in negotiations to be in Suicide Squad and kept peer-pressuring him, ‘You’d better be taking this movie!’ He obviously signed on for his own reasons, but I was so incredibly happy that we got to do Round Two. He’s awesome on set and awesome off set. He’s just a really, really good person.”
It is always nice to see someone really take a role to heart. Especially when the character is so widely loved by DC fans new and old.
Suicide Squad features Jared Leto, Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Cara Delivingne, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinneman, Jay Hernandez, Adam Beach, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, and Karen Fukuhara. This villain driven film will be in theatres August 5th. With Dawn of Justice coming so soon, Suicide Squad will be here faster than you think.
