Dynamic Cosplay Presents: Superior Lantern (Kenneth Hollant)

Dynamic Cosplay Presents: Superior Lantern, Blue Lantern Superior Spiderman

Cosplayer: Kenneth Hollant

DCN: What made you create this character, why ?
Ken: I was looking into a custom spiderman costume when I saw a deviantart picture for a blue lantern spiderman last year but I couldn’t find an actual pattern of the costume . By the time a pattern came out it blew up and I felt as though I would use uniqueness I was looking for . for the base I chose superior spiderman because … Well … He is superior haha ( and I think that is among spiderman’s best costumes).. Blackest night is probably my favorite major comic event and the blue lanterns are arguably the strongest lanterns (with the help of a green lantern) so I just wanted to combine the 2 and voila! A superior lantern is born.

DCN: Outside of cosplay do you have any other interest/hobbies?
Ken: Even though cosplay is life I am a HUGE otaku ( Anime nerd) and I spend countless hours building gundam model kits. Along with hanging out with friends and defending the galaxy in destiny.

DCN: Why do you cosplay?
Ken: I cosplay because I love how you can just be yourself and do what you love without the scrutiny of others . Cosplay is freedom and I love seeing people add their own personal twists on their costumes. Also I have met a bunch of really awesome people through cosplay.
DCN: What was your favorite cosplay project?
Ken: This hands down is my favorite cosplay because I was able to add my own personal touch to everything and it came out epic (and my favorite color is blue).

DCN: How long did it take you to get this costume together?
Ken: From the drawing board to reality, about 3 months . Plus the usual blood sweat and tears (with a side of raging).

DCN: Do you have any cosplays you will never do and why?
Ken: I would NEVER do something like a gundam or a mech suit because walking around, with those props all day can get pretty annoying and I’m lazy
Plus I would be scared to get it damaged.

DCN: Why do you think cosplay has become so popular in the last few years?
Ken: Honestly I think it is our generation and everyone exploring their interests. Especially with the rise in superhero movies and shows there are a ton of new characters / costumes to choose from.

My love of comics started at the age of 5, when visions of mythic beings fought their way across my TV screen. Batman '66, Super Friends, Wonder Woman, and Superman '78 filled my early childhood with imagination and adventure. Soon enough I found the spinner rack! Batman, Justice League and DC's Who's Who kept me coming back for more. I've seen the death of hope, justice broken, a light extinguished, and a universe torn! A kingdom come, the lightning return, a triumph of evil and a multiverse reborn!
