Rosario Dawson Joins “LEGO Batman” As Batgirl!

It seems this movie is generating as much talk as Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. In addition to cast members Will Arnett, who will be reprising his role as Batman from The LEGO Movie, Michael Cera (Arnett’s Arrested Development co-star) playing Robin, and Zach Galifianakis as the Joker, the scheduled 2017 spinoff LEGO Batman Movie has now cast Rosario Dawson (Daredevil, 2015) as Batgirl.

According to the Hollywood Insider, Dawson will lend her voice to  Barbara Gordon, the daughter of police commissioner James Gordon who later becomes Batgirl.

Dawson is no stranger to comic books and animation. She co-created her own comic, O.C.T.: Occult Crimes Taskforce, and recently wrapped shooting a co-starring role on season two of Netflix and Marvel’s Daredevil, playing the Night Nurse. She will also play in Netflix and Marvel’s Luke Cage. In addition, Dawson has previously voiced Wonder Woman in DC’s Justice League: Throne of Atlantis (2014) and Artemis in Wonder Woman (2009).

The LEGO Batman Movie will be directed by Chris McKay, the animation supervisor on Lego Movie, and is written by author-screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith. Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will serve as producers.
