CBS shares 411 on “Supergirl” Star Melissa Benosit

We are almost 3 months away from the anticipated premiere of the DC Comics adaptation of Supergirl. And the Girl of Steel’s home network, CBS, seem also eager for the premiere. They have set up a site for the series, which includes a feature on “7 Things You Didn’t Know…” about star Melissa Benoist.

More than a costume

Supergirl star Melissa Benoist got emotional the first time she put on her show costume. “I feel like a different person almost,” she said. “It really is an alter ego, where I feel inspired, hopeful and empowered.”

She’s got more ink than you’d think

Melissa boasts three tattoos: a wolf on her wrist, a chic feather accompanied with the word “free” on her neck, and a bicycle on her foot.

Just like us

Melissa considered herself a wallflower in high school, where she spent most of her time in theater shows or just hanging by herself.

No stranger to CBS

Before Supergirl, Melissa appeared in plenty of TV series, including CBS shows Blue Bloods and The Good Wife.

Music to our ears

As expected, Melissa is a fan of powerful women, including accomplished female singer-songwriters. A few of her favorites? Regina Spektor, Ella Fitzgerald, Rosemary Clooney, and of course, the legendary Etta James.

Multi-talented

While she rocks blonde hair in Supergirl, Melissa looks just as good with brown locks.

A Supergirl’s best friend

Melissa adores animals and constantly ‘grams photos of her sweet dog Farley. Snuggling her cute pup is just one way she unwinds after a long day on set.

Supergirl premieres October 26 at 8:30/7:30 CDT on CBS.
