Titans TNT Series Update

With the current field of television shows inspired by DC Comics characters (Arrow, The Flash, Gotham and iZombie), and a show based on Supergirl debuting this fall, it leaves the question on what’s the status of the live-action series based on the Teen Titans?

According to TNT president Kevin Reilly, good things come to those who wait. And Reilly wants to make sure he does right by the fans and his viewing audience. At TNT’s recent Upfront luncheon (summer events in which networks reveal returning and new shows for the fall season), Reilly was asked on the process of the pilot.

Oscar winner Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind) wrote the pilot with Marc Haimes. According to Reilly, “Akiva’s been very busy doing some other things” but hopes that movement will happen on the production “maybe this summer”.

Reilly also stated that television has a lot to offer in the superhero genre, and he wants the Titans property to be something special. “I sat down with Akiva and said — and he ultimately agreed — that the [TV] landscape right now is well-serviced on the superhero front. So what space is this going to inhabit?” Reilly stated. “And really what he wants to do is be very true” to the source material.

Nerdist.com reported back in February that the team will consist of Nightwing/Dick Grayson, Barbara Gordon, Hawk/Hank Hall and Dove/Dawn Granger, Raven/Rachel Roth and the alien princess Starfire. We here at DC Comics News feel that we can never have enough DC Comics inspired shows. And we have our fingers crossed for a Titans pilot!
